EUROPE (2026)

The European Union was founded on an extraordinary idea: that nations could rise above self-interest in pursuit of a common future built on democracy, cooperation and shared values. Today, that vision often feels buried beneath an immense bureaucratic machine. Procedures, regulations and endless layers of administration have become an end in themselves, slowing down the very people they were meant to serve. Innovation stalls. Initiative fades. Progress is postponed. While the United States and China race to shape the future, Europe risks becoming trapped inside its own labyrinth. Busy, complex and increasingly disconnected from the urgency of the world around it.

This large mural, now installed in Llafranc (Girona), reflects on that transformation: how a dream capable of changing history can gradually become a system that exists mainly to sustain itself. Europe does not need more bureaucracy. It needs the courage to put its original purpose back at the centre.
